We caught up with Ibra Sekajja after having a very productive season where he scored 17 goals and 7 assists in a QUESTION and ANSWER interview as he reflected over his season and discussed future goals which included playing for Uganda Cranes.Check it out.

#Soka25. We had a few pressing issues we had to address;

It has been said that you turned down an opportunity to play for Uganda cranes when they called you up on 5th of August 2013 and you never made it to join the team that was playing against Egypt in a friendly which is said to have annoyed the head coach Micho and many Ugandan fans who love to see you play for them than any other country, ever since then you have never been called up again?

#SEKAJJA. With a look of confusion on his face he immediately dismissed that claim.

I have never had any official call up from the Uganda National team nor was my former club (which was Crystal Palace FC) contacted regarding it. Although a few days later I saw news saying that i couldn’t turn up due to passport reasons which I found very disturbing as i would not turn down an opportunity to play for My Country.

#Soka25. Despite your good and unsettled runs over recent years, many Ugandans down in Uganda underestimate the Ryman league being semi pro league saying it affects your call up as it may be considered as a league that doesn’t give you enough competitive football.

#SEKAJJA. I understand why they would say that but i don’t agree with them purely and i know some wont agree with me on this but the reality is that the lower you go down in league here the more competitive it is because of the different challenges you have to deal with and i have played in higher leagues with Palace and other clubs plus if you ask any players that have played in semi pro leagues and they are now playing pro which is more competitive? I guarantee you they would all say semi pro and thats a fact.

#Soka25. What failed your move to South Africa as many think you failed trials?

#SEKAJJA. It was the club negotiations side that didn’t work out well but not the football side.

#Soka25. Ibra, talk about your future next season.

#SEKAJJA. I am at the centre of football, every league here is competitive and that is why every player wishes to play here no matter the league and that is why Arsenal has always struggled to win against semi pro clubs in the FA cup. The sky is the limit here thats why l’m focused only on progression as that will enable me to achieve my goals.

Despite suffering set backs like any other players, Sekajja has tried to get his career back on truck this season of 2016 – 2017 with the following achievements.

1: Most man of the match performances at club.
2: Top scorer for his club in the league.
3: Made history for the club by reaching the FA cup trophy qaurter finals for the first time.
4: Helped club finish 3rd in the league.
