The Azam Uganda Premier League continued with 7 games on match day 29 played across the country on Tuesday.
There were tears of sorrow and joy from the different playing venues following contrasting results recorded with the season left with only one match day of action.
At the Nelson Mandela National stadium, Namboole, Mahad Kakooza’s 5th minute strike for Express condemned Sadolin Paints to a 1-0 loss that means the Painters who recently sacked their coaches Simon Kirumira and Abdul Samandu Musafiri are relegated to the FUFA Big league.
Away in Masaka at the Recreational stadium, Umar Kasumba tapped home off Godfrey Lwesibawa’s delivery to give the Jogoos a slim 1-0 victory against visiting Vipers. Villa registered a league double victory over Vipers this season.
Soana’s captain Francis Olaki scored 14 minutes from full time to ensure his side defeats BUL 1-0 at the Kavumba Recreational stadium.
URA won at their Mehta stadium fortress 1-0 over Fred Kajoba’s Bright Stars with the lone goal coming from Congolese born turned Rwandese Labama Bogota Kamana in the 34th minute.
Bright Stars will now need to finish off the job against JMC FC to secure their stay in the top fligt for the 5th year running since joining the Premier League.
Onduparaka FC staged a brave football fight at the Green Light stadium winning 3-2 past The Saints at the Bet Way Green Light Stadium in Arua.
Rashid Toha, Muhammed Shaban and Living Kabon were on target for the Caterpillars.
The visitors scored through Gerald Bagoole and Joseph Othieno.
Lweza and Kirinya Jinja S.S encounter ended goal-less at the Mutesa II Stadium, Wankulukuku.
The match against JMC Hippos and Police did not end after the game was halted due to crowd trouble.
JMC Hippos were leading 1-0 until Police was awarded a penalty in the 65th minute that the fans bitterly protested.
The league committee will now pronounce themselves onto the matter as soon as possible to find a way forward as the league ends this Saturday.
Match day 29 continues on Wednesday with one game. Champions KCCA FC will entertain neighbors Proline on the astro turf of the Phillip Omondi stadium, Lugogo.
The final day of the season will come this coming weekend with all 16 teams involved.
