In response to the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) threats to ban individuals and clubs engaging in the Sportpesa Super 8 Leagues, Extreme Sports, the body running the much acclaimed grassroots leagues, has made it clear they will seek legal redress in case of any interference.
This came to light in a press conference addressed by the company’s Head of Coordination and Operations Athanas Obango, who further stressed that Extreme Sports is a legal entity registered under the laws of Kenya with an aim of giving the youth an alternative platform to grow their talents and that they will not be intimidated by threats.
He said: “Extreme Sports Ltd is a legal entity registered under the Kenyan law. As a result, all of the company’s activities are sanctioned by the Government of Kenya. However, should the Federation seek to continue with their threats; we shall be forced to seek legal redress.”
“Our mandate as a company is to offer the youth a platform to grow and nurture their talents in football. Our programs aim to complement efforts by FKF and are in no competition to what is being done nationally by the Federation. We have also sought FKF’s participation in our leagues to ensure continuous growth but to no avail. This door however remains open for partnerships with the Federation.” Obango further added.
Extreme Sports Limited is a professional sports management company, incorporated in 2001. The company was established with the view of supporting sporting initiatives at the grass-root level.
