Around 40 seats in the Al-Merreikh Stadium were destroyed by Al-Hilal Omdurman FC fans during their team’s 1-2 loss over Al-Merreikh on Friday.

Mohamed Rahman netted a brace to help his side silence their rivals in a CAF Champions League tie in Omdruman.Al-Hilal scored a consolation late in second half through Mohamed Musa.

And while the vast majority of the 25,000 strong crowd behaved themselves, there was damage done to a section of the Eastern stands where Al-Hilal fans were.

Forty seats in the at the stands were smashed during Red Devils’s win.There is no estimate cost of the damage so far.

One witness confirmed to soka25east.com that there was a group of troublesome fans in the Al-Hilal section and described them as “the worst ever seen” at the venue.

While no arrests were made, extra Al-Hilal stewards had to be pulled from other parts of the ground to police the North stand.

Merreikh now occupy the second spot in Group A following the victory with seven points in five matches,but will wait to see the results between leaders Etoile du Sahel and Ferroviario on Saturday.
