The Football Association of Zambia have maintained that the 2019/20 season comes to a close this Sunday.
Following a media briefing held at Football House this afternoon, FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala, the following issues were tackled:
i) The 2019/2020 Super League will be concluded on Sunday (09/08/2020) when the match between Forest Rangers and Zanaco will be played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
ii) Promotions and demotions will take place based on the final league standings as at Week 27.
iii) FAZ will engage all the Super League teams on Tuesday (11th August 2020) to plan on the best practices of the 2020/2021 season.
iv) Any changes to the league calendar will affect the registration window that runs from 1st July 2020 to 31st August 2020.
The General Secretary also shed light on matters preceding the planned coronation ceremony at Arthur Davies Stadium.
Kashala says that the appeal by Forest Rangers only arrived on Wednesday (05/08/2020) with the Appeal Committee deliberating on it within 24 hours.
Forest Rangers had 14 days within which to appeal the decision of the Disciplinary Committee which lapses on 10th August 2020.
Kashala highlighted the provisions of Article 35 of the FAZ constitution which empowers the Executive Committee to make decisions. He also cited Article 79 that covers unforeseen circumstances.
Finally, FAZ has urged all members of the football family to follow provisions of the constitution in dealing with grievances. Members are also urged to observe guidelines by the Ministry of Health under the covid-19 crisis.
