Warriors shock Eagles, Nchanga Throw stones as Napsa completely forget their 2017 season prowess….
Two first half goals from Herritier Nkonko gave Kabwe Warriors a 2-0 Premier League win over stubborn Green Eagles at a very difficult Independence Stadium in Choma.
Not many teams travel to Choma to face Eagles come out with bragging rights and the excited Railmen can bare testimony to that.
It wouldn’t even been more sweater, as the two goal hero Nkonka recorded his first goals in Zambia Premier Soccer League for Kabwe Warriors.
And the Congolese’ goals in the Warriors helped push his team to go fifth on the table and condemned Green Eagles to their first home defeat of the season.
The Congolese opening goal of the season came in the 27th and and ten minutes later in the 37th minute. This gave Magnificent Kabwe Warriors their first away win of the season.
It is super revenge for Kabwe Warriors who were beaten by Eagles last season both home and away.
Warriors utilised their chances though a lot of questions will be asked on the Green Eagles goal keeper Sebastian Mwange who never seemed comfortable after his first error which saw Nkonko take advantage and slot in the opener in the 27th minute.
Nkonko would again score a second 10 minutes after his first goal to send Warriors leading comfortable at the break.
Meanwhile Coach Aggrey Chiyangi still insist his team is fighting for the title and he won’t concentrate much on the set back but look into the weaknesses as they face Green Buffaloes in their next fixture.
“We are still going for the league and I really don’t know what happened with our goal keeper but will ask him because that is not the way he performs. We move on and we shall focus on the next games and utilise the chances we are creating to get goals. ” said Chiyangi.
And Tenant Chilumba who was elated with the result said he was happy that his team managed to win at a very difficult place. He attributed the win to his players following instructions and being clinical upfront.
“The boys played well and they followed instructions very well. We shall continue pushing and our aim is to get into the top four because Kabwe Warriors is a big team and for some time they have not been close to those positions. ” stated TC.
Asked if he was going for the title, Chilumba laughed it off.
“I can’t talk about the title at the moment. ” concluded TC.
Elsewhere on Saturday, Nchanga Rangers felt aggrieved with two disallowed goals which infuriated the fans to throw stones at the close of that encounter. Mike Katiba grabbed the winner for GBFC which puts then lever on points at the top with Power Dynamos.
Power Dynamos who had never lost at home to Nakambala Leopards ensured that record is intact as Benson Sakala got the all important goal to give Kelvin Kaindu the fourth win. Power remain top though only because of goals scored as the goal difference is the same with that of Power Dynamos.
Kobe Chipeta scored late in the game at home to Napsa Stars who were handed the fourth straight loss.The loss for Napsa take them second from the bottom while Forest go 13th. Napsa are a complete different team compared to the 2017 season.
Sunday Games saw Tenant Chembo bid farewell to Zesco United after beating Nkana 1-0 in Kitwe to condemn the Kitwe giants to their second defeat in a row at home. TC has left and accrosses over to Buildcon to take charge after Arena Guigilelmo was shown the door last week. Zesco leapfroged Nkana and are 7th with 7 points six behind league leaders but have two games in hand. Nkana are 10th.
In Lusaka, New Monze Swallows were taught a footballing lesson by Lusaka Dynamos who scored 5 goals and Swallows could only get a penalty in consolation which was scored by Wilbroad Mutale, his second of the season.
Staying in Lusaka, Kysa got their first point of the season away to Nkwazi and they had actually led in that encounter only for the Policemen to equalise.
There was another draw in Lusaka at Woodlands Stadium as National Assembly welcomed Lumwana Radiants in a goalless draw.
