The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Players Status and Transfer Committee has ordered Nkana Football Club to pay their former star Walter Bwalya USD 32, 000 in salary arrears and default on the sign-on fee.
According to a judgment by the Player Status Committee the 12-time Zambian champions offered Bwalya a 24-month contract from July 3, 2019 to July 2, 2021 and committed to pay USD 70, 000 sign on fee and a USD 4, 500 monthly salary.
Bwalya signed a pre-contract on 5th November, 2018 with the club pledging to start paying revised wages upwards upon the signing of the pre-contract.
The club paid the player a USD 50, 000 towards the sign on fee but neglected to pay the balance.
Nkana sold Bwalya to Egyptian side El Gouna Sporting Club on a permanent deal in July 2019.
The club has been ordered to pay the USD 20, 000 balance on the sign on fee and USD 12, 000 in salary arrears.
“For the avoidance of doubt, the club is indebted to the player in the total sum of USD 32, 000.00 payable within 60 calendar days hereof in default to face disciplinary sanctions under article 19 (2) of the FAZ Regulations on the status and transfer of players,” stated the judgment delivered by honourable David Simusamba.
