FC Johansen are the 2016 Sierra Leone Football Association FA Cup champions after seeing off their arch rivals Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces FC (RSLAF) by a solitary goal in a thrilling match played on Saturday 8 September at the Wusum Stadium,Makeni City.
After a barren firts-half, FC Johansen broke the deadlock when Nyakeh Alpha smashed home Abu Kanu cross from the right wing after a dramatic run to tap home the lone goal of the match in 62nd minute.
Both sides were brilliant in the first 45 minutes though FC Johansen enjoyed better possession in more than one occasion during the match.
FC Johansen started on a high with Sorie Barrie attacking in the 32nd minute but his shot went an inch over cross bar.
In second half, RSLFA responded and created several scoring opportunities but but none was a successful having managed to penetrate the FC Johansen defence though there was not ample time to shoot.
Owing to the win, FC Johansen will now represent Sierra Leone in the CAF Confederations Cup next year.
