French Ligue 1 side FC Metz have signed Gambian winger Ablie Jallow on a five-year contract from their feeder club AS Génération Foot.

The 18-year-old becomes the second Gambian to be signed by Metz after Alieu Jatta, who is yet to make his debut for the club’s senior team.

A statement on the club’s website read: “The little Gambian is now linked to the club at the Cross of Lorraine until 2022. A transfer that once again shows the good work done by the Génération Foot academy.”

Jallow, a former Real de Banjul attacker, scored 8 goals and provided 4 assists as Génération Foot clinched the league in their maiden season.

The diminutive Gambia U20 captain has already linked up with Les Grenats (The Maroons) on their pre-season training ahead of the new French league season.

Génération Foot were established as an academy in 2000 and became Senegalese league champions for the first time in 2017, the same year they gained promotion to the top-tier.
