Olympique Lyon have completed signing of Guinea-Bissau born defender Ferland Mendy.
The 22-year-old was being linked with a move to FC Porto in recent days but has ended up signing a five-year contract with Ligue 1 side that will elapse in June 2022.
Mendy has been one of most in-demand back line talent and he is arriving from another French side Le Harve.
“I am very happy to be at Lyon, even if it took a little more time, I did not want to go abroad.
“From the beginning my heart has been with Lyon and even if Porto had come to inquire, I had already decided to join Lyon, I would not have changed my mind, the club has ambition,” said Mendy.
” I am not afraid of the competition here.It is necessary to try to have maximum of playing time by working extra hard,”he added.
“In Lyon, I am looking maximum playing time. I cannot wait for the season to start,” concluded Mendy.
There is also the option to extend for a further year.Lyon officials however did not disclose the signing fee though it is roumered to be in millions of pounds.
