Ex-Ghana International Samuel Osei Kufuor has been named on the Ghana Football Association Normalisation Committee. FIFA has confirmed.
The 42-year-old Bayern Munich defender comes in for Lawyer Duah Donteng who was axed from the committee with no explanation.
The GFA Normalisation Committee was installed by FIFA in September 2018 but from all indication, it seems the committee won’t be able to complete its mandate of – running the day-to-day activities, reviewing the statues and organising and conducting election before March 31, 2019.
Mr. Donteng speaking on his removal with Kumasi-based radio station Oyerepa FM, said, ” I have been informed that a letter from FIFA has directed that i’m being replaced by Samuel Kufuor.”
He added:”I’m surprised because i’ve seen the letter or communication from FIFA. I’ll want to know the reasons for my removal but I’m not going to be asked to be maintained.”
In October 2018, Mr. Donteng grabbed the headlines for insulting a journalist, Ekow Asmah, who questioned him about his lateness for a meeting.
Kufuor played for Ghana between 1993 to 2006, scoring 3 goals in 53 games.
