Football world governing body, FIFA, has extended the mandate of the normalisation committee of the Cameroon Football Association (FECAFOOT) until the end of August 2018.
The decision was taken by FIFA delegation on Wednesday after evaluating the performance of the Me Happi led normalisation committee during their two day visit to the West African nation.
Under unmentioned circumstances, the delegation decided to extend the deadline of the committee until 31 August 2018 to give its officials ample time to complete the roadmap leading to the election of new office bearers.
The mandate of the Committee was to end yesterday 28th February and was expected by that time to have conducted fresh elections for the new federation president.
However, Soka25east understands that they are many irregularities in the Cameroon football circle that the committee is grappling with, like the Amateur championships which are yet to begin thus making it hard to organize elections before the first deadline elapsed.
The decision to appoint normalization committee by Fifa was in connection with power struggle at the Cameroonian Federation that started after Tombi Roko Sidiki’s controversial victory in the 2015 race to be chief executive that was annulled by the country’s national Olympic and sports committee.
The Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed that decision, agreeing that the electoral process had contained irregularities and FIFA decided on August last year it had put in place an interim committee to run the country’s football.
