After their poor 3-0 loss to Japan, Netherlands were looking to bounce back and after only ten minutes they had the lead against Senegal. Naoufal Bannis tapped in from close range.
Netherlands had chances to make it 2-0 but they failed to take them and minutes into the second half, Pape Sarr made it 1-1 with a strike from distance that deflected off Ian Maatsen.
Jayden Braaf came close to restoring Netherlands lead but his fierce strike came back off the post.
Minutes before the end it all went wrong for Netherlands as Melayro Bogarde saw red after conceding a penalty. Sarr netted to make it 2-1.
Then in injury time, Senegal added a third goal to leave Netherlands on zero points from two games.
There is still hope for the young Dutch side who now have to defeat the USA on Saturday and hope they are one of the four best third placed teams.
