FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup: Zambia up against South Africa in 2nd leg

The Zambia under-17 Women National Team faces South Africa this afternoon (Saturday) at Bidvest Stadium in the India 2020 FIFA World Cup qualifier second leg, first round qualifier.

Coach Kaluba Kangwa and his lasses jetted into South Africa on Thursday and immediately got down to work with an afternoon training.

The team carries a 2-0 cushion from the first leg played at Nkoloma Stadium on February 28 but will have to be at their best to make it count.

Goals from Esher Banda and Dorica Malunga gave Zambia a 2-0 first leg lead that they will have to protect on foreign soil.
In goal Inghutu Muchahabali will be expected to coordinate with the Esther Siafunko marshalled backline to keep the South Africans at bay.

The team will be looking to utilizing its pace upfront through the likes of Florence Kasonde, Dorica Malunga and Precious Nsama.

Kangwa can count of the midfield mastery of Maweta Chilenga, Tisilile Lungu and Shelly Masumo to put the South Africans to the wire.

Zambia has to be wary of the threat posed by South Africa’s Jessica Wade, Nelly Gamede and Nkateko Nkhuna among others.

The match kicks-off at 15:00 hours with the winner booking a date with Morocco in the next round.
