The 10th edition of the FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup that was scheduled to take place from August through to September in Panama and Costa Rica has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic which has already seen the equivalent of its U17 moved.
The decision, in a series of recommendations, was reached by the FIFA Confederations working group that was established by the Bureau of the FIFA Council to address the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The working group recommend:
“To postpone the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup Panama/Costa Rica 2020 – originally scheduled for August/September 2020. New dates will be identified,”
29 nations in Africa entered the CAF Qualifiers for this tournament with only two slots available. As of now, only the preliminary round has been played with the first round of qualification suspended until further notice.
