Ethiopia’s Walia Ibex new Portuguese coach Mariano Barreto has named a preliminary squad comprising
40 players to start preparations ahead of the much anticipated Africa Cup of Nations 2015 qualifer against World Cup bound Algeria later in the year.
The most interesting inclusion was that of striker Fikru Tefara who fell out with former coach Sewnet Bishaw as Robel Girma of Ethiopia Coffee also received his call up to the team.
Ethiopia had a roller coaster perfomance in 2013 before the sacking of Sewnet Bishaw in early February and Barreto is looking to ensure he gets his team ready ahead of the qualifers.Ethiopia qualified for the 2013 Afcon hosted by South Africa and Barreto will be looking to fill the big shoes left by his predecessor Bishaw.
