Leading into the holiday season, players from across the leagues  have been making a positive impact on their hometowns and team cities.

Former Kenya Utalii player Caleb Fundi Ayub is one such former player after years of service in Kenya he moved to Germany over 22 years ago to play professional football but amidst all that he got an injury and settled to coach youngsters in different age groups.

Fundi Calfundi calebeb has come back home to Kenya to set up what has been missing a youth academy all the way in Kitale going away from the norm of getting all academies started in Nairobi.

Together with his wife Fundi is set to start the FITA Academy also known as Fundis international talent academy whose doors will open in the next few days in Kitale to give the youth in the area a lifeline to help narture their careers. German football is booming, reaping the rewards of the strategy drawn up after their dismal performances at Euro 2000, when Germany finished bottom of their group. Forced into an overhaul of youth football, the DFB, the Bundesliga and the clubs decided that the development of more technically proficient homegrown players would be in everyone’s best interests. This led to the creation of academies right across the top two divisions that is the same concept Caleb Fundi is bringing home to Kenya to help spur football growth.

“We have come back home to set up the FITA Football academy and give back to our community in a different way.Its an exceptional moment because I felt it was important to help share the knowledge I have learned in Germany for the past 20 years by bringing the same to Kitale to give the youth a chance to get quality training in different group stages and age groups”

“We are in the process of registration and following all modalities with the Football Kenya Federation.A major announcement will be made when we will officially open the doors to the academies which will help transform football in the Western region by giving equal opportunity to all the deserving young players” Caleb Fundi told Soka25east.com

Caleb Fundi is on holidays with his wife and three kids with the main purpose being to set up the academy that has been hailed as a game changer in the Western region for it will be the first of its type.
