South African Football Federation (SAFA) could unveil the new national team coach before the side engages Angola and Guinea Bissau in two international friendlies set to be played at the end of March.
The national team coaching job has been vacant since the sacking of Shakes Mashaba in December.
Reliable reports suggest that the federation has settled on a shortlist of five tacticians, all of whom boast of impressive CVs and background of African football.
The list comprises of 2017 Africa Cup of Nations winning coach Hugo Broos,Harve Renard,Carlos Quirezon,Roy Hodgson and Baxter.
The shortlist was compiled by the panel set by Safa which was made of former national team captains Benni McCarthy,Lucas Radebe and Neil Tovey.
Safa executive committee is set to meet next week where it is scheduled to announce the new coach.Negotiation of contract and salary with the prospect are already in place.
The new coach is expected to have his first competitive match with Bafana in June when they visit Abuja to face Nigeria at the start of the 2019 Nations Cup qualifiers.
He will also be tasked to guide the team in the last four 2018 Russia World Cup qualifiers from August to November aganist Cape Verde,Burkina Faso and Senegal.
