68 delegates and 10 National Executive Committee members took part in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Annual General Meeting held on Friday,August 28 at the Sagret Hotel – Nairobi.
The delegates deliberated at length on the 18 agenda of the day with majority being adopted without contention, they include;
1. Expansion of Kenyan top tier league to 18 teams from current 16, this will take effect next season whereby four teams will be relegated at the end of the current 2015 season and six promoted from the FKF Premier League.
2. Readmission of Kenyan Premier League Limited as the body mandated to run the league; KPL had been struck off FKF’s radar during the Special General Meeting (SGM) held in match this year.
3. Lifting of bans on all suspended officials; this means Hussein Terry, Dr. Dan Shikanda among others are now free to assume their roles in the federation and also contest positions in the fourth coming federation elections.
4. The 20 FKF branches to be done away with and in their place, the 47 counties to be the new units of administration headed by chairmen. The vast Rift Valley region will also be split into two.
5. The adoption of the financial report subject to later scrutiny.
6. The delegates rejected proposal that Rugby Chief Richard Omwela head the federation’s electoral board arguing that his own federation is engaged in power struggles, also locked out of the board was DR. Moni Wekesa.
FKF elections are set for October 29 to November 13, 2015.
