Football Kenya Federation has relegated three Kenya Premier League teams that failed to comply with the football body directive to adhere to CAF club licensing rules.
According to FKF, Muhoroni Youth, Thika United and Sofapaka did not meet the criteria and as a result they have been relegated to National Super League that also requires clubs to comply with the rules before 31st January.
It is only KPL 12 clubs that acquired the license to operate in the league
by December 16, 2016 deadline that was set for clubs to comply.
2017 season will feature only 15 teams all who have partially complied apart from Tusker and Ulinzi Stars as they have fully met the requirements as per Caf rules.Kariobangi Sharks and Nzoia Sugar are the promoted sides and have acquired provisional certificates.
The affected clubs have a chance to appeal the decision to the FKF Indepedent Displinary Appeals Committee though it is beleived they will opt to go to court something that may halt the set date for start of new season.
