The preliminary list of candidates cleared to vie for the forthcoming football elections was published on Thursday evening.
Five National Executive Committee (NEC) members will be elected unopposed. They include: Gordon Davis Chege (Central), Timothy Muriithi Nabea (Eastern), Enos Bishop Tony Kweya (Western), Gabriel Mwandoe Mghendi (Coast) and David Kikorii Bunei (Lower Rift Valley). The aforementioned are the only candidates who showed interest in their regions.
In contrast, Nyanza NEC post will be contested between Joseph Oduor Andere and Laban Adero Jobita.
North Eastern by Ahmed Qadar Mohamed Dabar and Mohamed Abdi Farah, and Upper Rift Valley by Bernard Korir Lagat and Nyongesa Masinde respectively.
Nairobi produced the most candidates, three. Michael Ouma Majua, Tom Otieno Onyango and Isaac Macharia Wambui.
Meanwhile, the seat of women representative attracted three aspirants – Shabana CEO Violet Kerubo Momanyi, ex referee Margaret Onyango Omondi and former Gor Mahia treasurer Sally Bolo.
Nick Mwendwa will fight to retain the presidential seat against four other aspirants. Journalist Bonface Osano, former AFC Leopards chair Daniel Mule Anthony, Herbert Mwachiro, and former Gor Mahia CEO Lordvick Omondi Aduda.
