Football Kenya Federation (FKF) on Saturday unanimously adopted a new constitution during the Annual General Meeting that was held in Mombasa.
The new consitution that allows for three terms in office for the FKF president was voted by 70 of the 74 delegates that attended the meeting.
FKF President Nick Mwendwa, who chaired the meeting, said that the new constitution will provide better guidance for the football administration in the country.
“I would like to thank our members for supporting us in this journey. We have passsed the new constitution, which is a good document,”said Mwendwa in an interview with Daily Nation.
The new constitution will however take effect in 2020 when the elections will be held.
This means the current regime is not affected immediately by the new document, and can contest for two more terms.
Earlier, the federation bowed to pressure from stakeholders and dropped the proposal to increase the term limit of its current president by a further four years.
