In an effort aimed at promoting football development amongst the disadvantaged youth, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Mamma Africa an Italian based Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), led by Lino Cianfrone, to distribute unused football kits to needy players all over the country.
The initiative, dubbed ‘Goal for Kenya’ will entail the NGO, collecting unused football kits from Italian clubs, which will then be distributed to teams in the grassroots through FKF branches countrywide.
“We are happy to partner with Mamma Africa in this noble course that will not only help develop football but also improve social cohesion especially amongst the youth,” said FKF CEO Robert Muthomi.
“Many of our clubs especially those in the lower reaches struggle to raise funds for playing equipment and this venture will go a long way in alleviating that. We are grateful to Mamma Africa for this initiative,” added Muthomi.
In addition, the MOU will also see Mamma Africa play a key role in improving football infrastructure by involving select companies that specialize in the construction of sports facilities through their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs.
“As an organization we believe that partnering with FKF will go along way in ensuring that football is not only played in every part of Kenya but also by every deserving individual,” said Palas Chanda a representative from Mamma Africa.
“We plan to promote if and when such opportunities arise, aspiring and talented footballers in Kenya a chance to play in Italian conditions or share in Italian experience through stakeholder collaboration,” said Cianfrone when he met FKF President Nick Mwendwa earlier this year.
