Kenya: Football Presidential Hopefuls Present Nomination Papers to Electoral Board

Flamboyant Football Administrators Tom Onyang Alila and former AFC Leopards and Harambee Stars team manager Patrick Naggi will not vie for the FKF presidential seat after they failed to beat the deadline for submitting their papers.

Alila who is a FKF National Executive committee (NEC) said he had opted to step aside and give others  a chance. “In the first place, I did not pay the nomination fee, I was not interested in the post but  I can assure you there will be no elections”, he retorted without giving any explanation.

Nevertheless, the FKF Electoral Board has endorsed six candidates  to go for the presidential seat and a  similar number for the deputy presidents in the National polls  slated for December 14th.

Those cleared for the Presidential seat include incumbent Sam Keengu Nyamweya, Nicholas Mwendwa Kithuku, Evans Gor Semelango, Sammy Tiyoi Sholei, Sammy Oliver Ainna, and Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Otieno Rachier.

Those going for Deputy president slot are Doris Petra, Robert Akumu Asembo, Andrew Amukoa, Twaha Mbarak Ali, Hussein Swaleh Hussein and Daniel  Jaya Shikanda respectively.

a  jovial  Nyamweya said he was proud of his  achievement so far

Speaking after presenting his papers, a  jovial  Nyamweya said he was proud of his  achievement so far and pleaded for electorates  to give  him another chance  to serve another final term before plunging to a superior slot in the Cecafa .

Mombasa based Twaha  Mbarak who is gunning for the Vice President seat said  he has what it takes adding that given that position, he will deliver football to the promised land. He said he will be backing Rachier for the top seat owing to his  good  image. “Rachier is my bet. He has no integrity issues. He is a  good football manager having
steered Gor Mahia  to win a treble”, he said.

Re-Union Chairman Evans Gor Semelango thanked the electoral Board for showing wisdom despite the many challenges but urged them to prove they are people of integrity by displaying fairness and transparency in their jurisdiction.

I have several misgivings which I want to tell you in front of these camera’s

“I have several misgivings which I want to tell you in front of these camera’s. Nobody in this board has asked us  to  submit out academic qualifications and secondly, some of my opponents have integrity issues and it is only fair to demand certificate of good  conduct to prove they are tax  compliance and above  all, they don’t have  criminal records

It’s my prayer this  process will not be riddled  by bribery allegations as  we have  heard from some  quarters. This process must not be  manipulated.I will not hesitate to pull out if I sense any form of manipulation” observed Semelango.

Nick Mwendwa  said  he has  confidence the Electoral Board will carry out a  clean job

Nick Mwendwa  said  he has  confidence the Electoral Board  will carry out a  clean job and show fairness and accountability in the entire exercise.

Rachier promised if elected to clear the  entire rot in football saying he  will devolve   devolution to the grassroot football.

He said he will transform Kenya  football to be a  thriving hub after being mismanaged while promising to  bring sound  management that attracts corporate  sponsor’s.
