Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has proposed the formation of a five member Committee comprised of FKF Premier League chairmen to oversee the transition of the League governing body when the mandate of the Kenya Premier league Limited runs out in September.
The club chairmen who form the committee include: Dan Shikanda – AFC Leopards FC, Dan Aduda – Tusker FC, Robert Maoga – Kariobangi Sharks FC, Col Erick Oloo – Ulinzi Stars FC and Ken Ochieng – Zoo FC.
The committee has been mandated with drafting proposals on how the FKF Premier League will be run post-KPL, including the possibility of clubs voting for an independent chairman to lead the new league body.
The meeting was attended by 17 FKF Premier league clubs. Sofapaka was the only club that was absent.
The FKF Chief Nick Mwendwa has been vocal about parting ways with KPL after its term expires, with the two bodies taking different stands in how the league should be run.
Meanwhile, Mwendwa shed more light on the BetKing Kenya – FKF Premier League title sponsorship deal.
Ksh 12 million will be disbursed to clubs in the coming, Ksh 69, 333, Ksh one month prior to the official kick-off of the season, Ksh 69,333,300 on or before the end of the third month of the season and Ksh 69,333,300 on or before the end of the sixth month of the season.
During the meeting held via video link, the president further reiterated the federation’s support to women football by committing to channel FKF’s license fee of Ksh 10 million from the deal to the Women Premier League (WPL).
