A ruling will be made today March 17 through a video link, in a case filed by the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) against the Sports Registrar.
FKF sued the Sports Registrar’s office over the conditions the Registrar laid down in order to accept their returns of the federation’s March 27th elections.
The FKF through its submissions to the Tribunal in the case that was heard at the Milimani Law courts on February 25th, argue that the laid down conditions conditions by the Sports Registrar are not realistic and retrogressive to sporting federations seeking to be registered.
On Sunday, 15 March 2020, Chief Justice David Maraga suspended open court appearances for two weeks as a safety measure over the Coronavirus threat in Kenya and hence the judgement will be delivered via video link meaning, all appeals, hearings, and mentions of criminal and civil cases in all courts have been suspended with immediate effect.
According to a communication from SDT chairman John Ohaga, the verdict will be delivered on Tuesday, March 17th, 2020 at 2:30 pm.
“All lawyers and other interested parties are expected to join the link by 2:20 pm at the latest read,” the communication in part.
Ohaga said arrangements are being made to facilitate the necessary invitations to join the video link and requested the parties involved to get in touch with his office.
Former FKF president Sam Nyamweya, Gor Mahia Chief executive Lordvic Omondi Aduda, former Kenya Football Federation (KFF) vice-chairman Twaha Mbarak and journalist Milton Nyakundi are among the 60 individuals who opposed the country’s football governing body’s case siding with the Sports Registrar in the saga by filing their submissions.
