EDITORIAL:
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) President Sam Nyamweya on 5th August 2014 announced sweeping changes to the national team technical bench sacking Adel Amrouche with his entire technical bench and in came Scottish Bobby Williamson assisted by former International Musa Otieno and Simon Mulama appointed as team manager.
The move was termed as a knee jerk reaction following Harambee Stars elimination from the Africa Cup of Nations qualifer by minnows Lesotho as the entire country called for the disbandment of the federation which they termed as incompetent.
However recent developments are a cause to worry as Soka25east.com have found out from reliable sources FKF President Sam Nyamweya in utter bias from the two local appointees only made the announcement through the media but has not discussed issues concerning contracts and even giving both Musa Otieno and Simon Mulama proper actions plans and job descriptions.
Its absurd and ironical how our football chiefs treat local tacticians with disdain and contempt but when it comes to foreign coaches everything is laid bare on the table and this is without any prejudice to the appointment of Bobby Williamson.
In this instance both Musa and Mulama are expected to accept the jobs without any written agreement unlike the head coach and later the same federation will sack them without any notice putting their careers in jeopardy and soiling their names.
This trend has to stop forthwith and the local tacticians should not act desperate by accepting this positions only to be humiliated later .Both Musa Otieno who captained Kenya for 13 years and is the most capped with 105 caps together with Simon Mulama have worked hard to build their careers and names and any blunder from them will see those years of hardwork watered down if they dont remain firm and ask for commitment from the federation which for many years has been known to be insincere in its announcement meant to only “Please” the football fans to forget the misery of poor management and incompetence in the football federation.
It should be a win win situation for both parties or else the appointments are null and void without proper mechanisms put in place.
