The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) and national football team assistant coach Irfan Kawri have parted company on mutual ground.This According to a post on the Associations Facebook page.

FAZ Acting General Secretary Katongo Kabungo confirmed the development to fazfootball.com on Friday and also availed a parting statement from Kawri.

Kawri’s statement is hereby reproduced in full:
“Since December 2015 when I was appointed Assistant Coach of the Zambia national team on a part time basis by former FAZ president Kalusha Bwalya and the executive committee I have thoroughly enjoyed my time with the team. Before the FAZ elections in March 2016 the conversations I had with the management were that of looking at a full time contract where I was discussing the possibility of being in Zambia full time and working on different assignments carrying on assisting the senior team but also the other national team age groups.

“At this moment in time, FAZ are not in a position to offer me a full time contract. Therefore, my role as Assistant Coach for the Senior National Team would remain on a
part-time basis. Due to my current commitments in England it is extremely difficult for me to manage my work in England and assist the national team with the current part time arrangements in the long-term.

“Having a young family, stability is important and I cannot jeopardise my work here in England which may
happen should I continue with the current part time arrangements. In view of this, it is with regret, I will not
be joining the team in camp for the next friendly against Togo and the AFCON qualifier against Guinea.

“This does not mean I have closed the door with FAZ. In the future, depending on the circumstances there is still a possibility of me returning to work with the national teams. I will remain in regular communication with Mr Kamanga and people at FAZ and I would like to thank FAZ for giving me the opportunity to work with the senior team and make a positive contribution to Zambian football in the last four months where we remain
unbeaten during competitive and friendly games apart from the penalty shoot out in the CHAN where we also
had the best defensive record. I would like to wish coach Lwandamina and the team all the best in the friendly
against Togo and the AFCON qualifier against Guinea as I will be keeping a close eye on things.”
