Football Kenya Federation(FKF) under President Nick Mwendwa have filed a case at the Court of Arbitration for Sport(CAS) seeking to overturn the Confederations of Africa Football(CAF)  appeals committee decision to reinstate Equitorial Guinea in the upcoming AWCON.

The case was filed on Friday in  Lausenne, Switzerland with President Nick Mwendwa personally travelling to set up the ball rolling after meeting their lawyer.

“Yes its true FKF have filed a case at CAS and we only await our lawyer to brief us on the next course of action.President Nick Mwendwa arrived back in Nairobi on Monday from Switzerland where he personally took up the matter with the relevant body” a close source at the federation who sort anonymity told www.soka25east.com

The decision by Kenya to go to CAS came by  after CAF  last  Wednesday reversed its decision to replace Kenya with Equatorial Guinea at the biannual showpiece.

FKF is seeking Interlocutory orders from CAS to stop the tournament which begins on the 17th November 2018 in Ghana.

Interlocutory orders  is a legal term which can refer to an order, sentence, decree, or judgment, given in an intermediate stage between the commencement and termination of a cause of action, used to provide a temporary or provisional decision on an issue.

Equatorial Guinea defeated Kenya 3-2 on aggregate to qualify for the Cup of Nations competition in June 2018, but Kenya successfully filed a protest at Caf seeking to disqualify the Central Africans from the competition on the basis they had fielded an ineligible player namely Anette Jacky Messomo.

However the CAF appeals committee were presented with documents from Equitorial Guinea and after assessment they found the country innocent of any breach therefore reinstating them to the tournament.
