Former Kaizer Chiefs Serbian manager Kostadin Papic is poised to become the new coach of Ethiopian Premier League side Ethiopian Buna.
The official announcement is set for midweek. Papic who is already in town will assume the role previously held by his country mate Dragan Papadic.
Papadic’s second coming at the Addis Ababa side last season was cut short due to illness three months into the job.
Another Serbian Nebosja Vucivevic was shown the door eight matches into the 2016/17 season due to poor performance with Papadic stepping in to rescue the situation.
Assistant coach Gezahegn Ketema who handled the team for the remainder of the season has been in charge of preseason ahead of the new season which kicks-off this weekend.
Buna have lived in the shadows of city rivals St. George who have dominated them in the recent past. The coffee makers have not lifted the league trophy since the 2011/12 season’s triumph.
Papic will therefore be tasked to quench the fans’ thirst for glory.
The 57-year-old has vast experience in the continent having worked with some of the top sides in South Africa and Tanzania namely Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Yanga SC.
His last assignment was with Polokwane City in the South Africa’s topflight in 2015.
