Former Spain and Real Madrid defender Michel Salgado has been appointed on  as an assistant coach  for the  Egypt’s national team Pharaohs

According to a press release by the Egyptian Football Association, Salgado will be a third assistant to the Pharaohs’ Mexican head coach Javier Aguirre, alongside Tito Garcia Sanjuan of Spain and former Egypt icon Hani Ramzi.

The 43-year old full back, who won 53 caps for Spain, will be starting his managerial career in Egypt after spending almost two decades on the pitch.

Salgado played at Celta Vigo (1994–1999), Real Madrid (1999-2009) and Blackburn (2009-2012) before retiring.

He came out of retirement for a brief moment in April 2018 to play for Independiente F.C. against C.D. Plaza Amador in the quarter-finals of Argentine’s Clausura tournamenti, a game that ended in a 1–1 draw .

Salgado will start his mission immediately as Egypt begins Monday their preparation camp for the game against Niger on Saturday in Alexandria in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
