Malawi Super League giants Be Forward Wanderers and Kamuzu Barracks will cross swords in the inaugural Fisd Challenge Cup finals this Saturday at the Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.
Kamuzu Barracks currently lead the TNM Super League and are unbeaten in all competitions at Civo Stadium,which is their homeground.For Be Forward Wanderers they boast of their record of capturing the inaugural competitions with today match expected to produce wonderful sparks.
The last time the two teams met was in the second round of the league in which Kamuzu Barracks emerged the winners.
On the other hand, the Wanderers will be out to bring the good memories of the Carlsberg Cup win when they confront the army side in what should be an epic battle at Civo.
Kamuzu Barracks captain Harvey Nkacha said they expect a tough battle from the Nomads.
“It is going to be a tough match, but we are prepared.
“There’s a lot at stake for us and we will fight from the first to the last whistle,” said Nkacha
Nomads will be without first choice goalkeeper Etoga Noah – who is down with Malaria. Forward Joseph Kawendo is on top form and is in contention to start the match, that he predicts will be a tight one.
” It will be a tight match, but we are prepared to maintain our legacy of winning inaugural cup competitions. It will be wonderful to win a second silverware this season after the Carlsberg Cup,” he said.
Winners of the trophy will take home K10 million with losing finalist pocketing K4 million consolation cheque in an match expected to be graced by Vice-President Saulos Chilima among other diginitaries.
The sponsors of the tournament are Fisd Limited who have lined up a number of activities such as live band performances and acrobatic shows.
