Four aspirants declared their interest in the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) presidential seat. They presented their nomination forms to the FKF Electoral Board on Monday ahead of deadline.
The four – Boniface Osano (Running Mate – Innocent Mutiso), Lordvick Aduda (Running Mate – Athanas Obala), Daniel Mule (Running Mate – Peter Lichungu) and Herbert Mwachiro (Running Mate – Harold Ndege) will challenge the incumbent Nick Mwendwa.
Other aspirants – Sam Nyamweya, Nicholas Musonye, Twaha Mbarak, and Sammy Shollei – who’ve heavily criticised the election process, snubbed the deadline. They argue that the Sports Dispute Tribunal (SDT) is yet to determine a case concerning the election, that’s before it.
In the women’s representative seat, two aspirants candidates remain in the running. Former referee Margaret Omondi and Shabana Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Kerubo Momanyi will contest for the sole position. Ex Gor Mahia treasurer Sally Bolo had expressed interest but withdrew due to the unresolved differences surrounding the polls.
The Kentice Tikolo chaired board will publish a preliminary list of candidates on September 3.
Meanwhile, a seven-day disputes resolution window – September 4 to 7 – has been provided where complaints on the nomination process (county and national) shall be welcomed. Appeals will be heard between September 8 and September 10.
The final list of county and national level candidates will be published on September 11.
The national polls are penciled for October 17 while the County Elections will be held on September 19.
