Four division one teams progressed to the last 16 of the inaugural FKF Women’s Cup that was played in various venues across the country over the weekend.
Nyuki Starlets, Sunderland Samba, Mukuru Talent Academy and Bunyore Starlets, all downed premier league oposition to move to the next round.
On Sunday, Sunderland Samba piled more misery on Mathare United Women who are in a poor run of form. They demolished Mathare 5-1 at Ligi Ndogo grounds.
Two goals from Winfreda Kerubo in the 12th & 79th minute together with a goal apiece from Angela Mirenja, Farida Abubakar, and Faith Kerubo sealed a spot for Samba in the round of 16.
Gladys Akoth equaliser in the 13th minute only proved to be a consolation goal.
Meanwhile, Mukuru eliminated former premier league champions and current zone A leaders Thika Queens with a 2-0 victory at the Camp Toyoyo grounds.
At the Mumboha Grounds, Bunyore Starlets sailed through on penalties after a barren draw against Nakuru West Queens. The former won the shootout with a 7-5 scoreline.
On Saturday, Nyuki was the only division one club to outdo a premier league oposition. They beat Eldoret Falcons 4-1 at Approved school in Kakamega.
