Four players from AFC Leopards have been called to Kenya’s senior national team “Harambee Stars” for two outings ahead.

The quartet are goal keeper Ian Otieno, midfielder Benard Mang’oli, attacking midfielder John Ndirangu and budding winger Bruno Jack.

Ian, seen as the future of Stars goalkeeping has owned Ingwe’s number one jersey since arrival from Posta Rangers in June, relegating Lucas Indeche to the bench. His heroics in front of gaol has continued to draw plaudits from different quarters.

Ndirangu “Softie”, a marvel behind strikers, also joined the Coach Ivan Minneart’s side mid season from National Super League side Kariobangi Sharks. On Sunday last week, he drilled in a beauty in Leopards’ 2-0 win over KK Homeboyz in a league Cup tie at Mumias Complex. All the goals were assisted by Bruno Jack a new sensation at the den.

Mang’oli is a proven midfield general who is making a return to the national side after sometime in the cold while with Bandari FC.

Stars play their last 2017 AFCON qualifier away to Zambia on September 3, and in preparation for the battle for pride (the two are out of contention for a spot in Gabon), the Stanley Okumbi’s men will sharpen with an international friendly against neighbors Uganda Cranes on August 31.

Uganda on the other hand will be hosting Comoros in a must win match that could give them a ticket back to AFCON since 1978.

The summoned Stars’ players are expected to join the team’s camp from August 15.
