France are the very first Star Sixes tournament champions after beating Spain 2-1 in the final played at 02 Arena in London on Sunday night.
France heroes in a star-studded inaugural four-day tournament were Ludovic Giuly and Youri Djorkaeff.
Daniel Jensen scored the lone goal for suprise package Denmark.
France coach Robert Pires was a happy man as his team had to fight hard to secure a final spot with a 5-2 win over Spain earlier in the day.
“I’m very proud of my team.It’s always very important to do well whenever you put the French shirt on. It was a very tough game.
“The legs were a bit heavy and Denmark played very well, so we’re very happy to win the tournament,”Pires told the media.
Denmark captain Stig Tofting added: “Of course if you told us we would finish runners-up before the tournament we would have been happy, but it’s always disappointing to lose. Congratulations to France.”
Spain secured third spot in the tournmament after they whitewashed Brazil 11-3 in the play-off.
Denmark’s Chris Sorenson was voted star of the tournament while ex-Blackburn defender Michel Salgado was presented with the top scorer award after netting nine times.
