Mali eased to a 3-0 win over Niger in their Francophone Games Group A match in Abidjan,Ivory Coast on Sunday afternoon.
The Junior Eagles comfortably dominated the clash and should have won by a more convincing margin in the second half after establishing a 1-0 lead in the first 45 minutes.
Mali opened the scoring in the 44th minute, with Cheick Omar ’s cross turned home by Djemoussa Traore at the far post for his second goal in as many games.
Two minutes after the start of sexond stanza later it was 2-0, with Fode Kanote and Elbilal Traore combining beautifully to set up Mamadou Traore, who fired a shot between the legs of Niger goalkeeper Issouf Boubakar.
Ibrahim Kane sealed the win with ten minutes to the end scored, showing some neat skills in the penalty area to make space for a shot, which he duly rifled past the goalkeeper’s right hand to complete the scoring.
Mali completely dominated the second half but were unable to add to their advantage, with Traore missing a great opportunity to complete a hat-trick late on as he headed onto the crossbar with an open goal in front of him.
For their third and last group match,the Junior Eagles will be agamist Congo Brazzaville.
Mali are using the tournament to prepare fot the U-7 World Cup that is scheduled to take place in India this October.
