Free State Stars have extended the contract of Kenyan defender Joseph Okumu by two years.

Okumu, 20, joined Stars August last year from Chemelil Sugar F.C in the Kenyan Premier League. He enjoyed a fair first season at the Bethlehem based side – as they finished the 2016/17 season two places above the relegation zone.

The former Kakamega High School prodigy returned to the Harambee Stars’ fold after sometime out. He was part of the Kenyan national team which lost 2-1 to Sierra Leone in the Afcon 2019 qualifying match in Freetown.

Ea Lla Koto, as Free State Stars are nicknamed, have been undergoing massive squad clear-out before preseason and have let go up-to eight players.

David Nkausu, Bokang Tlhone, Thabang Matuka, midfielder Angelo Kerspuy and former Premiership to scorer Moeketsi Sekola will all officially depart with their deals expiring on the 30th of this month.
