The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) has announced the cancellation of the football season due to COVID-19, with Vipers SC crowned winners of the Ugandan Premier League.
The announcement was made by FUFA President Eng. Moses Magogo at his address today on the status on football in Uganda.
The FUFA Executive has decided to apply the 75% rule and declare Vipers champions of the Ugandan Premier League. Five games were remaining and thus 83% of the league done.
Vipers SC were leading KCCAFC by 4 points at the top of the table after 25 rounds of matches.
All the other football leagues including the lower divisions, Women’s League and the Junior Leagues have all been cancelled.
Vipers will represent Uganda in the CAF Champions League while, KCCA will take part in the CAF Confederation Cup.
Football activities in Uganda have been suspended since March 18 due to the coronavirus outbreak.
