Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) boss Eng. Moses Magogo has refuted claims by former Cranes media liason officer Fred Katende that they had neglected Gor Mahia midfielder Khalid Aucho after sustaining a knee injury injury on national duty.
Aucho limped off and was substituted with Godfrey Baba Kizito in Uganda Cranes’s 3-0 win over Togo in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers last month.
Katende said on his official Facebook account that he had spoken to the club’s management and K’Ogalo were displeased with the manner in which the FA handled the player’s injury. The player was flown to Nairobi for treatment instead of receiving the official national team treatment offered by NIC Holdings Insurance.
In a quick rejoinder, Magogo dismissed the accusations saying it’s the player who preferred to be treatment in Nairobi and not Kampala.
“The facts are clear. The player opted for treatment in Kenya instead of FUFA treatment. I was personally involved to ensure the player gets treatment. I hqve first hand information with the player,” Magogo was quoted by Kickoffuganda.com
‘The NIC insurance is claim after treatment and that FUFA offered the player.” He added.
Soka25east.com has since sought clarification from Gor Management and speaking to the deputy Secretary General Naima Oketch, she said Aucho is recovering well and the Ugandan FA have been corporative.
The player may however miss Kenya Cup semifinal match against Nakumatt FC on December 9 as he is yet to recover fully.
