By Steven Kagiri,

FUFA referees commission (FRC) through its disciplinary committee has suspended eight referees over misconduct and poor officiating.

Yusuf Awuye, an FRC member told the press yesterday at FUFA house, Mengo that the suspension came out after investigations.

The suspended referees include; Peter Musoke who officiated the aborted Masaka LC vs Police FC FSL tie together with his assistants Michael Mawanda, Moses Seruwu and match commissioner Jude Kinamala.

The quadruple was suspended up to the end of the season. “The four officials performed less than our minimum standards as referees which 6 out of 10 to the extent that they made a decision that changed the result of the game”, confirmed Awuye.

Apart from Musoke, the trio have also been demoted to the regional league starting from next season.

Others suspended are Ali Sekimwanyi, Acedri Modesty, Moses Ssebuliba and Patrick Muchunguzi. The four are accused of officiating at a non sanctioned game between China and Ireland in Namboole.

“The moment teams from different countries meet in a match and raise the flags, it becomes an international game yet neither FIFA and FUFA was notified”, stressed Awuye.

The suspension comes after several cries by club officials over the referring standards in all FUFA leagues.
