Pa Omar Jobe netted the only goal as they beat Guinea Bissau 1-0 in an international friendly match played this afternoon in Bissau.
The tie was the second within a week between the two sides with the first leg ending in a goalless draw at Independence Stadium in Bakau last weekend.
The match kicked-off with both sides raring to get all the three points but Guinea-Bissau enjoyed so much of the possession keeping the visitors frustrated but couldn’t get a goal to show their effort.
Gambia had to wait until the 29th minute through Read de Banjul striker Pa Omar Jobe’s close range effort.
After the break the Djrutus failed to penetrate the visitors’ defence despite their control of the proceedings.
However,Scorpions defended well their lead which they maintained until the final whistle.
Both sides were using the match as part of preparations of upcoming CHAN qualifiers.
Gambia will host Mali on Saturday July 15 with Guinea-Bissau facing Togo on the same date.
Victory for Gambia aganist Mali over the two legs of qualifier will secure them a date aganist either Liberia or Mauritania in the second half and final round of qualifier as they chase a place in 2018 CHAN that will be hosted in Kenya.
