Gambian football’s biggest sponsors, Multimedia Gateway International (MGI), have had their licence as an international gateway company to operate in the country terminated.

MGI, who in the past signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Gambia Football Federation, have had their licence revoked by the new government of President Adama Barrow due to “irregularities” in their operations.

MGI have played an integral role in football in the country after taking up the sponsorship of the national teams, securing PUMA shirt deals and assisting the FF in financing part of their activities.

MGI took up the payment of coaches hired by the FF and also recently funded the renovation of the Independence Stadium in Bakau.

It remains to be seen how this decision will affect the Scorpions as the company have been seen actively pumping in millions of Dalasis into Gambian football.

MGI are a Swiss based company providing high-quality connectivity to anywhere in the world. Since 2002 they have been working with some of the largest and most trusted companies across the globe.

MGI have become the partner of choice for both mobile and fixed network operators in the Gambia during former President Yahya Jammeh’s tenure.
