Gambia were held to a frustrating 0-0 stalemate by Guinea-Bissau in an international friendly clash played at the Indepedence Stadium in Bakau on Saturday night.
The Scorpions dominated large parts the encounter, played at an almost empty venue, but were unable to provide the finishing touches to wave-after-wave of attack.
Alagie Sarr’s troops started the game on the front foot with Pa Omar Jobe and Matarr Ceesay combining well in attack; the later going close on the half-hour mark as his attempt was cleared off the line.
Baboucarr Ceesay was then called into action with 39 minutes on the clock as the Djrutus flexed their muscles before the break.
In the second stanza,Gambia continued to dominate possession and territory with Lamin Mussa denied by Bissau defenders in the 69th minute.
Pa Jobe then we close in the 82nd minute as his powerful effort flew over the crossbar.
Coetzee Cande had late chance to win it for the hosts, but he was denied by the Bissau shot-stopper in second-half stoppage-time as Gambia had to settle for a draw.
The result, though, was good for both sides as it was a warm-up ahead of CHAN 2018 qualifiers.
