Ethiopia top striker Getaneh “Gecho” Kebede has described the Wednesday Africa Cup of Nations game against Malawi as a must win encounter away in Blantyre.
Getaneh who came in as a second half substitute in the 1-2 loss to Algeria alluded to the fact that they were ready to capitalise on the missed chances to give Ethiopian fans something to cheer about.
Speaking to Soka25east.com Gecho as he is popularly refered to by his many legion of fans was forthright and expressed confidence of getting a win.
“We must win our game against Malawi on Wednesday even though we will be away from home and this does not mean we are underrating them in any way.We lost our first match to a Algeria and we known very well inoder to qualify to Afcon 2015 in Morrocco it will be important to start winning matches both home and away”‘Getaneh told Soka25east.com
“We played really well against Algeria but we were not able to use the many chances we had but we hope to make amends against Malawi and come back home with the 3 points to give our fans something to cheer about. The mood in camp is buoyant and every player is rearing to go against Malawi and as long as we belive we will make it in Blantyre.
Gecho has been in fine superb form for his South African club Bidvest Wits scoring important goals for them.He will be hoping to get back his national team form to score since he did so in last year’s World Cup qualifiers.
