Ghana suffered 2-1 defeat to United States of America in an international friendly played at East Hartford,Connecticut on Sunday morning.
Coming off from a loss suffered in another friendly aganist Mexico few days ago, coach Kwesi Appiah made several changes to that side in a bid to broaden a pool of his players but things didn’t go according to plan.
Dominic Dwyer gave the home side a deserved lead in the 19th minute with a brilliant finish after missing two half-chaves to score.Ghana could have routed the Americans in the first half in which they completely dominated the proceedings but having failed to do so gave the visitors a whiff of a chance.
Ghana were awarded a penalty after Acheampong was fouled in the 18yard but captain Asamoah Gyan’s shot was saved by US goalkeeper Brad Guzan.
The second half started the same way with US getting much of possesion.
Kellyn Acosta was the first to have a real sniff on goal when his long range effort went narrowly wide of the diving McCarty Dax.
After dominating possession for long periods, Acosta nodded the hosts into the lead on the 52nd minute. This followed a measured cross by outstanding Dwyer.
Asamoah Gyan then conjured up a wonderful move but he seemed to have overcooked it as the through ball trickled out for goal kick as Black Stars started to up the antic.
Moments later Dom Show hurried his shot after being put through by Kelly but shot wide as US swarmed all over Ghana.
Asamoah Gyan netted the consolation goal for the Black Stars with sumptonous free-kick on the hour mark.
Various substitutions and tactical shifts were made by Appiah coached side but they did not bear any fruits with the loss marking his second defeat in since his return to the national team coaching job.
