The Black Stars of Ghana held their first training session at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex in Kumasi as part of preparations for the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations.
The technical team led by head coach Chris Hughton put the players though the paces to begin the camp ahead of the tournament which begins in 10 days time.
Initially, there were plans of taking the team to South Africa for preparations but after a public outcry back home, the Ghanaian FA resolved to have a local camp in Ghana instead.
As part of preparations, a friendly against Namibia has been lined up on 8 January in Kumasi before the team departs for Ivory Coast.
Ghana are looking for a successful campaign in Ivory Coast being among the most decorated with 4 titles. However, their last title came 42 years ago in the 1982 edition hosted by Libya.
It is such that the current crop of stars like Inaki Williams, Mohamed Kudus, Jordan Ayew and his brother Andre Ayew would like to leave a legacy for generations ahead.
Ghana are drawn in Group B alongside Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
Their first game at the tournament will be on 14 January against Cape Verde and then collide with Egypt on 18 January. Ghana will conclude the group stage in a spicy meeting Mozambique on 22 January.
