Media Company Zylofon Cash is the new title sponsor of the Ghana Premier League for $10 million over five years.
The deal was penned Thursday between the firm’s executives and the Ghana Football Association.
Zylofon Cash takes the naming rights of the league which will now be known as “Zylofon Cash Ghana Premier League.”
The 16 teams taking part in the newly branded league are expected to pocket $70,000 annually. The clubs are already benefiting from a television deal from Chinese pay TV giants StarTimes in which each team gets $12,000.
For three years the Ghana’s topflight has operated without a headline sponsor after First Capital Bank (now Capital Bank) ended its five-year partnership after just two years in the deal.
“Zylofon Cash has taken the responsibility of sponsoring the Ghana Premier League for the next five years,” Nana Appiah Mensah, CEO Zylofon said.
He added: “We are going to drive traffic and excitement to league centers by working with clubs and also using artists to promote this sponsorship and partnership.”
On his part Ghana FA boss Kwesi Nyantakyi said, “The money will go into developing the league, the clubs, management and players welfare.”
