Togo coach Claude Leroy has included Ghanaian defender Wilson Akakpo in his provisional squad for the upcoming friendly aganist Iran.

Akakpo,25, who plays for Egypt Premier League side Al Masry is among the players selected for the match which will be played in Russia.

The Ghanaian-born Togolese is rated as one of the best defenders in the Egyptian League having featured for Al Masry for three seasons.

One of Al Masry sporting chiefs who did not want to be named as he is not authorized to speak to media told soka25east that his club has been left delighted with his call-up.

“This is a nice reward. Akakpo deserves it. He played a stable season in different positions.” he said.

Leroy will determine his final squad by October 1 the day before the team departure from Lome.
