Kenyan Premier League defending champions Gor Mahia kept their title hopes alive with a decent 2-0 win over Muhoroni at Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Saturday.

The win helps second placed K’ogalo to stay in touch with leaders Tusker going into the last round of matches.

Gor will have to thank Rwadese international strikers Meddie Kagere and Jacques Tuyisenge who scored a goal each to give them a crucial victory and 54 points on the log.

The winners started strongly going up as early as the tenth minute when Tuyisenge completed a cross from Kagere with Muhoroni goalkeeper well beaten.

Muhoroni side should have levelled in the 14th minute when Benjamin Mosha who has been on a high failed to beat Bonface Oluoch after Samuel Ndungu had done the donkey work setting a nice cross.

Gor kept pressure and the result were seen in the 32nd minute Tuyisenge bursted into the box cutting of Muhoroni’s Paul Muchika before getting the ball to fellow countryman Kagere who slotted it home easily for the second goal.

Coming into the second half, it was Gor again who went on the offensive first. Tuyisenge was denied by Farouk Shikhalo from a long effort. Francis Kahata and George Odhiambo were having a great game and build ups between the two having much of K’ogalo entertaining football.

Muhoroni were not giving up without a fight. In the 70th minute, Lwamba Bebeto wasted a glorious chance failing to go for a goal as the ball went inches wide.
